There are lounge chairs where the design is in the upholstery and there are lounge chairs where the design is in the frame — where the structure itself carries the craft story, and the cushions are simply the most comfortable part of something that was already worth looking at. The Renova was designed as the second kind. A slim matt black metal frame holds a generous light French beige linen seat and backrest within a structure where a white ash wood seat rail sits at the base of the cushion — the warm timber visible as a considered band between the linen above and the black metal legs below. Armrests wrapped in tan cord bring the tactile craft heritage of binding and weaving to the most touched part of the chair, and each armrest ends in a flat brass disc cap — the quiet luxury detail that completes the piece and gives it its most precious material moment.
