There are table lamps that light a surface and there are table lamps that become the surface's most considered object — that bring such architectural presence and craft detail to the bedside, the console, or the shelf that the light they provide is almost secondary to the object they are. The Hugo was designed to be the second kind. Three walnut wood columns rise from a flat rectangular base in a miniature colonnade — dark, warm, and entirely confident in their architectural reference — each one carrying an ivory carved panel at a different height, each panel etched with a radiating fan of grooves that catches the light and gives the base the particular quality of a piece that rewards every closer look. A generous rectangular fabric shade sits above, held by slim black metal supports that celebrate their own presence rather than hiding it.
Wood brings the deep, considered warmth of a timber chosen for both its grain and its authority to a lamp base that carries more design intention than most entire pieces of furniture. The shade radiating panels connect the Hugo to the broader Mohh design language — the fan detail that appears across the object range, each time in a new context and each time more interesting for its placement.
