Magnolia Barstool

The stool that grew from the floor. Upward.
There are bar stools designed around what sits on them and there are bar stools designed around what holds them — where the base is so considered, so sculptural, so entirely its own that the seat above becomes the conclusion of a piece that begins at the floor. The Magnolia was designed from the floor up. A deeply ribbed conical base in warm acacia rises from a scalloped, petal-lobed foot — the botanical reference of the magnolia flower carried from the base outward in the multi-lobed form that grounds the stool with the organic confidence of something rooted rather than placed. The reeded surface of the cone catches the light differently at every angle, the dense vertical ribs giving the dark acacia a tactile depth that makes the stool as interesting to touch as it is to look at. A matt black footrest ring encircles the cone at mid-height, and a scalloped matt black seat ring at the top echoes the petal lobes of the base — the dark metal detail that ties the botanical language of the piece together from foot to seat.
Acacia carries the warmth and distinctive grain of honest Indian timber through the ribbed cone — the deep reddish-brown of the wood making every reed more expressive, every shadow between them more considered. Cream leatherite gives the round seat the warm, clean contrast that makes the dark acacia base more dramatic and more beautiful. Matt black metal ties the scalloped seat ring and circular footrest together with the precision of a material that knows its role in the composition. A barstool designed in India, for the home that understands the counter deserves a seat rooted as deeply in craft and nature as the best pieces in any other room.
