Two timbers. One composition. The living room’s most considered centrepiece. There are coffee tables that hold the morning cup and there are coffee tables that hold the room’s entire visual story. The Nerisa was designed to hold the story. A generous organic top in deep walnut — free-form, asymmetric, and entirely its own — carries a white ash inlay at its centre in the form of a floating pebble or pool of natural timber set within the darker surface, the contrast between the two timbers creating the table’s most intimate detail. Below, a stacked base of three distinct layers — white ash at the base, dark walnut at the middle band — builds the table with the geological confidence of something that accumulated rather than was assembled. And from the right side of the base, a white ash organic shelf extends outward at a lower height — a second surface, a different plane, a considered place for the book or the object that deserves its own moment. Walnut brings the depth and authority of a dark timber that rewards the closest attention — the grain glowing beneath the polished surface, the dark form reading differently in morning light and evening light. White ash brings the natural warmth and fine grain of a lighter timber that makes the walnut appear more rich and the composition more resolved — the two tones finding their balance across every element of the piece from the stacked base to the surface inlay. A coffee table designed in India, for the home that understands the living room’s most considered moment is always the one at the centre of the room — and that the most extraordinary centrepieces are always the ones that carry two materials in a conversation worth having.
