Oreon Chair

The chair that made the oval the most considered shape at the table.
There are dining chairs where the backrest is incidental and there are dining chairs where the backrest is the entire character of the piece — where the decision to make it oval, to frame it in timber, to let it float above the seat with a gap of open air beneath, gives the chair its identity and its warmth in equal measure. The Oreon was designed around that oval. A warm white ash frame — four rounded legs, a clean H-stretcher, a timber seat rail — holds a terracotta fabric seat cushion within and sends two uprights upward to support a generous oval backrest in the same warm fabric, framed in ash, floating free above. The gap between seat and backrest gives the chair the airiness of a piece that understands comfort doesn't require enclosure.
