PetalStem Nesting Tables

Nature drew the base. The room remembers it.
There are side tables with legs and there are side tables with a reason — where the structural element beneath the surface carries so much design intention that the piece could stand in a room with nothing on it and still be entirely worth having. The PetalStem Nesting Tables were designed for that second category. Two round wooden tops sit on bases where individual petal-like slats radiate outward from a pinched waist — fanning upward to support the top and downward to the disc base in the organic, hourglass form of a flower stem caught at the moment of bloom. The India brown finish on the bases gives the petal form the warm, earthy depth of a colour chosen to make the black tops appear to float above something rooted and natural.
Wood and color find their balance in a pairing that is as considered as the form it serves — the darkness of the tops making the warm brown of the petal bases more luminous, the warmth of the bases making the black tops more dramatic. Two tables at slightly different heights nest together with the considered composition of a pair that was always designed to be seen as one — the larger anchoring the corner, the smaller companion completing it. A nesting table set designed in India, for the home that understands the most considered pieces are always the ones where nature had a hand in the design — and the maker had the confidence to let it.
