Rene Chair

The chair that makes three materials feel like one decision.
There are chairs where the design is everywhere and there are chairs where the design is in the restraint — where the decision to use three materials, no more, and to let each one be entirely itself creates something more resolved than any amount of additional detail could achieve. The Rene Chair was designed around that restraint. A single curved wood panel floats between the pale powder coated rear legs as the backrest — warm, richly grained, and shaped into a gentle curve that holds the sitter without enclosing them. A beige upholstered seat cushion sits on an wooden seat rail that bridges the gap between warm timber and pale metal — the considered junction that makes the three materials feel like a single considered thought.
Powder coated metal gives the A-frame legs the quiet elegance of a frame that holds the piece with confidence without competing with the warmth of the acacia above. The floating backrest — connected at the top corners to the frame, open beneath — gives the Rene its particular lightness, making the chair as open and airy from behind as it is warm and considered from the front.
