There is a particular kind of coaster that earns its place on the table not through decoration or inlay but through the confidence of a single honest material finished with genuine care. The Waldo was designed around that confidence. Six circular acacia solid wood coasters — each one carrying the warm, distinctive grain of honest Indian timber in the particular diagonal pattern that makes acacia entirely its own — sit on the table with the quiet authority of objects that were made to be there. A serrated edge running the full circumference of each coaster is the detail that makes the Waldo more than a simple disc — the craft marking that gives the edge a tactile quality and the coaster the considered character of something that went through more than one decision in its making.
Acacia carries a grain that shifts and changes across every piece — the diagonal lines running at slightly different angles on each coaster, the depth of the colour varying from warm amber to deep reddish-brown — making each of the six entirely its own while the set reads as entirely unified. The deep polish draws out every line of the grain with the quiet warmth of a finish that gets more beautiful with every use.
